Handmade Polymer

Frequently Asked Questions...

where online would be a good place to sell handmade polymer clay figures?

I don't like craig's list anymore, and etsy seems like its for professional artists. the figures i make are miniature things like little flower pots, snowpeople, Christmas scenes. i can make just about anything you'd want for say, a miniature dollhouse or small items for little shelves or scenes.

Answer:

Etsy has a large range of items, from nicely done to not-so. There are also a *lot* of similar-items there.
I've also heard that most people don't actually sell all that much at Etsy.

There are various places to sell craft things like that though, and also various ways to *market* them (which can make a lot of difference in how much you end up selling). You'll have to find the best one for what you make, and whether you want to leave the house or not, or you may want to spread yourself out into several venues.

I'd suggest also checking out some of the "business" pages at my polymer clay site since they deal with a lot of those topics:

(...there, click on *Things To Sell--Esp. at Ebay* near bottom of list... and also look at *More Suggested Things For Dollhouses* just above that)

I've heard in the past that there's always a market for dollhouse items (though they'll have to be made precisely to scale for dollhouse enthusiasts).

You might also want to consider doing small classes in your home, etc., to teach others the basics:

Kids Bracelets and Necklaces - Unique & Affordable Childrens' Jewellery

When buying jewellery for children, you want to find a piece that says something about them, expressing their individuality. Surprisingly a lot of kids are not in the least bit interested in the latest fashion trends, they simply know what they like. That is why it is important to choose a piece of jewellery that suits their personality. Almost all children have a favourite colour, which is normally reflected in their choice of clothes.

Kids are instinctively attracted to bright, colourful, shiny objects, that is why jewellery is a popular gift idea. Girls love colourful bracelets, necklaces, earrings and bangles. Popular designs for girls include, cute baby animals, butterflies, flowers and hearts.

For that special touch opt for unique handmade items, rather than those that have been mass produced. Jewellery that has been personalised with the recipients name shows that it has been carefully chosen and made just for them.

Rather than selecting a fashion led item, find something unique, a timeless piece that will not become out of date and unfashionable, but instead can be treasured for many years.

Polymer clay is becoming one of the most popular materials used in childrens' jewellery making, with a huge pallet of beautiful colours, this versatile medium can be moulded into interesting shaped beads and pendants, creating unusual designs using ancient techniques such as 'Millefiori.' This hard wearing clay never looses it's vibrancy, so lending itself to colourful kids bracelets and necklaces. Handmade Polymer clay kids jewellery is affordable for all, the perfect choice for a unique and charming gift that you won't find on the high street.
